About Ed

I grew up in an Army family and served as an Army officer before I ever opened an accounting book. Since then I have spent more than 20 years in finance, tax and law, as a CFO, a general counsel, a university lecturer and, since 2015, a lawyer with my own firm.

Today I practice estate planning, trusts, probate and trust administration, and tax law at Centerbridge Law Group, PLLC in Anacortes, Washington. I’m the only attorney there. I also own Centerbridge Accounting & Tax, LLC, a separate tax preparation firm down the hall. The two firms are separate businesses, and neither one takes work through this site.

Most of my work now starts the same way: someone has died, or is getting ready to, and a family needs to know what to do next. That is what I write about.

Faith and service

I’m a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Anacortes, where I serve as a licensed reader and lay preacher, and I’m treasurer of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia. I’m finishing a Master of Divinity.

My faith shapes how I think about money, death and family, and some of my writing here says so plainly.
