Looking For A Straightforward SEO Guide? A Quick Book Review

3 Months to No.1: The 2022 “No-Nonsense” SEO Playbook for Getting Your Website Found on Google by Will Coombe

As many of you know, I’ve spent the last four years managing a digital marketing firm for a private equity investor. Coming from financial technology and education, this was a significant change – and required a lot of technical learning. I am constantly looking for books that will simplify and reduce the B.S. you get when dealing with digital marketing. This SEO guide is one of the best I’ve found.

A short 250 pages, the book focuses less on “technical” SEO, like heading tags, CSS, markups, and the like, and focuses more on the essential strategies you need to know to get to the 80% solution. Where many SEO guides will baffle you with bull – as will many SEO companies – this book doesn’t do that. A typical moderately tech-savvy person can do everything here.

Focusing on local SEO, you get the critical roles that directories, social media, paid search, and content play in making your site relevant for Google searches. You learn where the critical elements are that need to be optimized to make a difference, that there are no shortcuts, that SEO takes time, and that straightforward doesn’t mean easy.

Perhaps the best part of the book is the actionable week-by-week “to-do” list that will set you up for SEO success. At some point, you will need an SEO professional – but when just starting, the guidance in this book will get you a long way in a very straightforward way.
